A FESTIVAL CALENDAR OF THE ANCIENT EGYPTIANS

An illustration of the famous circular zodiac, originally on the ceiling of Temple of Het-Hert, (Hathor in Greek) or what is commonly known as the Temple of Denderah in Qena, Egypt. The circular zodiac is from c. 200 b.c.. The original is now in the Louvre, and a copy is in its place in the Temple. The zodiac is cenred on the celestial North Pole as shown by the hippopatumus at its centre, a symbol of the polar constellations.

Note: The festival calendar of celebrations has been removed from this site. My chief reason for doing this was because it did not accurately reflect the rituals and festivals of the Ancient Egyptians throughout its very long history, nor did it reflect the rites of any group in operation today. There has been an insinuation among groups and individuals that this list was 100% real and planned their festivals around it. Despite repeated postings to the contrary, there persisted the assumption that the calendar was a Kemetic Orthodox one. The list was posted only for entertainment purposes - nothing more. It in no shape or form represented the rites of Kemetic Orthodoxy
