LOCATION:
Rockford is located at the juncture of County Roads T24 and B47, six miles south of Iowa Highway 18; 22 miles southeast of Mason City and fourteen miles west of Charles City. The IDOT plans to upgrade US Highway 18 to a four-lane divided highway, scheduled for construction in the year 2000. Upon completion of the Avenue of the Saints, Rockford will have a better access to the nearby employment centers, offering those persons employed in the area the advantage of living in a smaller community.

Communication services are provided by OmniTel Communications. UTILITIES:
The City of Rockford has their own Municipal Light Plant with connections with Wisconsin Power & Light. The community has Peoples Natural Gas for their gas supplier.

SCHOOLS:
The Rudd Rockford Marble Rock Community School District built a new school in 1991 which houses grades Kindergarten through 12th from all three communities. The community also has a Sunshine Preschool that runs from September to May.

TOURIST ATTRACTIONS & RECREATION:
Rockford is the home of the Devonian Fossil. The Rockford Fossil Beds are located west of Rockford on B47. The Floyd County Conservation Board provides guided group tours by appointment. You may call the board at (515)257-6214 to set up an appointment. Robert Waller, author of Bridges of Madison County, is a native Rockford, spending his younger years here until he graduated from Rockford Senior High. His boyhood home still exists in the community. Rockford has four other parks. Central Park is located downtown with an antique bandstand and water fountain in the center of the park. Railroad Bridge Park is located in the southwest part of town and is a good area for fishing. West Park is in the west end of town with shelter houses available for rent, volleyball, basketball, and tennis courts and playground equipment for children. George Wyatt Campgrounds is located on the original grounds the Winnebago Indians camped on. There are 24 campsites with trailer dump and showers available. There is also a boat ramp available. Fishing is enjoyed by many who camp here. The city of Rockford holds bingo every Wednesday night at 7:00 P.M. Proceeds go to the city recreation fund. Rockford also has a nine hole golf course with a swimming pool.

BUSINESS & INDUSTRY:
Rockford has a medical clinic with two doctors and a nurse practitioner, Chiropractic Clinic, accounting services, Chevrolet auto dealership, hardware store, lumber yard, tractor repair shop, two wrecker services,three body shops, new car wash, antique shop, three beauty shops, two self-serve stations, grocery store, attorney, several daycare in-home operators, and several other businesses too numerous to list.

AGRICULTURE:
Rockford is a farming community raising corn and beans. Hogs and cattle are also raised in the area. Farmers Co-op Elevators are located in the west end of town.

LODGING & RESTAURANTS:
Rockford has three restaurants, Pizza Corral which is open Tuesday through Sunday late afternoon and evenings, Captain Bly's and Jackie's Choice. Captain Bly's and Jackie's Choice are known for their good food for noon dinners. Captain Bly's serves evening meals on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Jackie's Choice serves noon meals all week, plus evening meals on Friday and Saturday.

LOCAL LEGENDS & HISTORY:
Rockford was established in 1856. In 1878 Augie Samuel Duesenberg was born. Fred and Augie Duesenberg opened a bicycle shop in Rockford, Iowa in 1897. The first Duesenberg engine was built by Fred S. Duesenberg at Rockford in 1898. The family farm is still located southeast of Rockford.

FESTIVALS & CELEBRATIONS:
Rockford Fossil Days is an annual event held on Saturday and Sunday of Labor Day weekend. On Sunday the River City Street Rods are here for the Car Show.

REAL ESTATE:
Rockford Area Development has a building site available for a business with water and sewer close by. There are several beautiful building sites around the community for new home construction.

CHURCHES:
Holy Name Catholic Church, First United Methodist Church, Zion Lutheran Church, and Rockford Baptist Church are located in Rockford to serve the community.

LIBRARY:
Rockford has a busy public library with books, magazines, videos, books on tape, reference and access to the Internet. Through the Iowa Locator program, we can order anything we don't hold locally. The library also has a local history collection and information helpful to genealogy searches.

BRAGGING RIGHTS:
Rockford is a great place to live. All the benefits of a small town community, yet within easy traveling distance of Minneapolis/St. Paul; Rochester, MN; and Des Moines and Waterloo, IA.
