TELEPHONE COMPANY & SERVICES:
Western Iowa Telephone Association is a member-owned cooperative providing
telecommunications services to eleven rural communities in northwest Iowa. Local
exchange service is provided to 3,300 customers from eight digitally-switched
exchanges. All interoffice and long distance connections are provided over a fiber optic
network, and equal access for long distance services is available to all customers. All
buried outside plant provides reliable, high-quality voice and data circuits for business
and residential customers.
Advanced digital switching allows customers to select from custom calling services and custom local area switching services. Signaling System 7, a state-of-the-art signaling protocol, provides reduced call set-up times and almost instantaneous connection.
Link Plus voice messaging and NetINS Internet access are provided to all exchanges through the company's alliance with Iowa Network Services. Plans include offering ISDN services in the near future.
A partner with CommNet Cellular Inc. in three cellular partnerships, the cooperative provides sales of cellular telephone service and cellular phones as an agent of CommNet Cellular, Inc.
The cooperative serves a 615 square-mile area within Woodbury, Monona and Plymouth counties in Iowa.
Other services provided include Enhanced 911 service, local paging, prepaid calling cards and FAX services.

SCHOOLS:
Woodbury Central Community School provides education for
approximately 650 students from Moville, Climbing Hill and open enrollment. The
school is located in Moville and includes transitional kindergarten through 12th grade.
The school was remodeled and enlarged in 1990.

TOURIST ATTRACTIONS & RECREATION:
Haskell Pool was opened in 1991. The
Meadows Golf Course is a beautiful 18-hole course on the northeast edge of town.
There are two parks--one with a tennis court and a volleyball net and the other with play
equipment and located next to Haskell pool. Both parks have shelter houses. There is a
baseball complex with 3 fields for Little League play in addition to the high school
baseball diamond.
BUSINESS & INDUSTRY:
We maintain many businesses including a grocery store, a
Convenience Store, a new fire station, post office, insurance agency, a law office, a
new and used car lot, 2 electric utility companies, 2 feed and elevator companies,
a Coop gas station, 2 farm services, a towing service and car repair, a video rental with
tanning beds, 2 beauty salons, a bank, an apartment rental company, a lumber yard,
several construction businesses, a concrete ready-mix, a town newspaper, 3 trailer
courts, 2 bars, a City Hall, a chiropractor, a dentist, a pharmacy, a barber, a car wash, 2
used car businesses, a hardware store, and a sheet metal and welding business. In
the fall of 1995 a new medical clinic will be in operation. Moville is located 15 miles
from Sioux City which provides 2 large hospitals, 3 colleges, and 2 major shopping
malls.
LODGING & RESTAURANTS:
Motel "20", Moville Steak House, Judy's Feed Bunk and
Wynn's Diner.
FESTIVALS & CELEBRATIONS:
Moville is the home of the Woodbury County Fair
usually held the first week in August. In September there is an AppleFest held at Old
Town on the fair grounds.
REAL ESTATE:
There is a realty company in Moville. There has been a steady surge
of new home building in Moville.
CHURCHES:
Catholic, Lutheran, Methodist, and Evangelical churches all work
together for the good of the community.
LIBRARY:
The Woodbury County Library located on Main Street in Moville has a large
selection of books plus an excellent Iowa and Woodbury County Historical section.
They also have an active genealogy group.
BRAGGING RIGHTS:
Moville has a very active and well-trained volunteer Fire and
Ambulance Service, a very well-organized volunteer summer youth baseball program,
plus 4-H and scouting organizations. Moville boasts a beautiful Senior Center with
congregate meals 3 times a week, plus they provide Meals on Wheels to shut-ins.
Moville also has many active organizations that include American Legion & Auxiliary,
Women's Club, Chamber of Commerce, Masons, Garden Club, Knights of Columbus,
and Woodbury Central Boosters Club.
MISCELLANEOUS:
The Moville City government has seen to it that all streets are
paved and maintained. Along with a new water tower, improvements are made
regularly to the water and sewer utilities.
