Grand River is located in south central Iowa, 20 minutes south
of Osceola, exit off Interstate 35, eight miles west on J20, and
7 miles north off highway 2.
TELEPHONE COMPANY & SERVICES:
Grand River Mutual Telephone Corporation is a progressive local
exchange carrier with a service area covering 4,064 square miles
in southern Iowa and northern Missouri. Grand River Mutual serves
a total of 21 counties in the two states - with 44 exchanges,
12 in Iowa and 32 in Missouri.
Grand River Mutual utilizes state-of-the-art digital switches
interconnected with 339 miles of fiber optic cable to bring its
members the best in communications technology. Some of the services
that Grand River Mutual offers are highly reliable private lines,
business telephone systems, equal access, distance learning, local
dial-up and dedicated Internet access, and switched 56 KB service.

SCHOOLS:
Grand River and Kellerton are currently the consolidated district
Grand Valley Community Schools. Grand Valley Elementary, with
a student population of 76, is located in Kellerton. The district
has whole-grade sharing agreements for grades 7 - 12 with Mount
Ayr Community Schools (currently 49 Grand Valley students), Lamoni
Community Schools (20 Grand Valley students). The area is served
by Green Valley Area Education Agency 14. Graceland College at
Lamoni, Southwestern Community College at Creston.

River was serviced by the Humeston and Shenandoah Railroad.
