LOCATION:
Floyd is located in northern Iowa at the intersection of Highway
218 and 18 (Avenue of the Saints). The Cedar River is at the
north end of town.
TELEPHONE COMPANY & SERVICES:
Floyd is served by the OmniTel
Communications of Nora Springs. OmniTel Communications serves
ten communities in northern Iowa with telephone service. In
addition to Nora Springs and Floyd, they also serve Little Cedar,
New Haven, Riceville, Mc Intire, Plymouth, Rock Falls, Rockford,
and Rudd. OmniTel Communications offers Internet access to all of
these communities. Cable television is provided to the
communities of Rudd, Plymouth, and Marble Rock.
SCHOOLS:
The Charles City school district reaches out to the Floyd
community for public education. The local Christian Academy also
serves K-12.
TOURIST ATTRACTIONS & RECREATION:
This region provides great hunting and trapping. There is great
community involvement in school competitive sports. There are
good biking trails nearby. Several city and nearby parks have
good wildlife areas.
BUSINESS & INDUSTRY:
Floyd has many small local crafters, a local hardware store, a
car repair garage, body shop, antique shop, wheel wright doing
buggy repair, stone quarry, and several recently expanded
businesses dealing with farm-related products.
AGRICULTURE:
Floyd lies within an area of some of Iowa's best farmland.
RESTAURANTS:
Our local restaurant is the Floyd Y that attracts people from all
over the area, known for their good food and prices. Many nearby
fast-food and other eateries available.
LOCAL HISTORY:
Floyd was built in 1855.
FESTIVALS & CELEBRATION:
The Floyd Fun Day is an annual event with children's games &
activities as a fund raiser for the Floyd Scholarship Fund.
REAL ESTATE:
Possible housing area to be developed with need for such. Also
property along the "Avenue of the Saints" sure to be
developed soon--great opportunity.

Floyd United Methodist Church, Gospel Lighthouse, and Howardville
Wesleyan (country church outside of town)

equipment and scholarship funds for graduating seniors--and we
have kids!
